This is the "New Concetta" sweater from: "The Brown Stitch Knitting Patterns" by: Elizabeth Smith
This is a seamless woman's cardigan knit from the top-down and using worsted weight yarn.
The original pattern is a solid color, I decided to put in the wide color stripes, and the row of lace called, "Twin Leaf Lace." This lace pattern can be found in, "A Treasury of Knitting Patterns," by: Barbara G. Walker, pg. 210. This lace pattern is not in the original pattern, it's my own addition. I like to use Barbara Walkers book anytime I am looking to add a little lace, or cable, or even a pattern that has great texture into a sweater or other knitted item. This is a must have book for your knitting library.
I also put an extra button and button loop at the bottom as an after thought. This way I can close up the cardigan all the way. This is one of those cardigans that is loose, comfy, and very casual. It looks great with jeans or dress pants. I knit this sweater using Lion Brand, Wool Ease. It has only a small amount of wool and the rest is acrylic. It blocks very nicely. This is a cardigan that you can really have fun with. It's so basic, and yet you can change it in so many ways, like I did here, by adding a lace pattern somewhere, or knitting stripes of color. I love the large buttons on this piece too. This pattern is available on www.ravelry.com , and knits up pretty fast. So have fun with it.
