King Charles Brocade Scarf

Here is a scarf with a touch of elegance. It is beautiful and easy. I made this in an off white wool, but have lost the label and cannot remember the brand of the yarn. This can be made in any worsted or bulky weight yarn (2 skeins). This scarf measures 6"x47"inches after blocking. But can be made longer by just doing more repeats of the Brocade pattern. You can use a size 8 to 10 needle. It's one of those scarves that is so easily adapted to a custom size. Click on Photo to enlarge. Below is the patterns used for scarf, and directions.
Directions: Cast on 27 stitches. Work "seed stitch" for 6 rows. From here on out begin every row working  4 stitches in seed stitch , then 4 stitches in stockinette stitch.
End every row working  4 stitches in stockinette stitch, 4 stitches in seed stitch, and working the center 11 stitches in Brocade pattern. You can place markers at the beginning and end of the brocade pattern to help remind you that those 11 stitches are in the brocade pattern. Just keep working as many repeats of the brocade pattern as you want, you can make this scarf as long as you want. End with row 8 of brocade pattern and then finish off with 6 rows of seed stitch. Weave in yarn tail. Wash & block.

Seed Stitch: (First Row) *K1, pl, k1, repeat from * to end. Repeat this pattern to form seed stitch. This is a reversible stitch pattern. So what your really doing after you have established your first row, is on all the other rows you are knitting the purl stiches and purling the knit stitches as you come to them. If you have never tried this pattern, you might want to practice this stitch to make sure you understand it before you begin the scarf. It's really very easy!

Stockinette Stitch: Knit on the right side of work, purl on the wrong side.
