A few years ago when I picked up knitting again after having a very long hiatus, I remembered that knitting is a process and that I need to be patience and just enjoy the journey. We knitters can get excited to pick a project and find that perfect yarn and get going so we can see the end results of our efforts. That is of course the objective.
And if your like me, I don't like rushing things. I'm not a speed knitter, but I am amazed at those knitters that can knit at a fast pace. For some reason my hands can't work that fast when it comes to knitting. I would say that I am a middle of the road knitter, I'm not in the fast lane or the slow lane. But I do know that if I try and get in too much of a hurry to finish a project then I make too many mistakes, which then can lead to scrapping the whole project. Several months ago I started knitting my first shawl. The yarn is a tweed and called "Barn Door Heather" to translate it's a Plum color. I'm doing a simple lace pattern that zigzag's across the surface and this project is almost complete. When I first started knitting the shawl, I thought to myself "Wow, this is going slow, this is going to take me a while to knit." But as I kept going and got further into my project I was starting to forget how long this was going to take and just enjoyed the process. I discovered that my mind switched from watching the clock or counting the rows to just enjoying the ryhthm of knitting. So now that I have my new attitude about knitting, I can relax! I hope you can do the same and to remember that really good things come to those that wait or in this case have patience.
